On 10 December 2025, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and the European Commission's Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA) will host an Info Day for the Innovation Fund 2025 Heat Auction (IF25 Heat Auction).
To help interested applicants prepare their proposals, the key features of the auction will be presented, such as its design and objectives, the application and evaluation process, and will include Q&A sessions.
During the event, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions via Sli.do using #IF25Heat.

Description

With an estimated budget of €40 billion for 2020-2030 financed from revenues of the EU Emissions Trading System, the Innovation Fund aims to create financial incentives for companies and public authorities to invest in cutting-edge low-carbon technologies and support Europe's transition to climate neutrality.
In 2023, the Commission developed a new competitive bidding mechanism (‘auctions’) to complement its grants programme. Auctions expand the portfolio of support mechanisms available under the Fund, fostering faster and more cost-efficient support for the roll-out of more mature, low-carbon technologies needed for the green transition.
This auction targets one of the biggest sources of EU industrial CO2 emissions: process heating. The objective is to support innovative projects that electrify industrial process heat and promote the large-scale deployment of electrified and direct renewable heat technologies. The auction was announced in the Clean Industrial Deal as the first auction under the Industrial Decarbonisation Bank.
The IF25 Heat Auction opened on 4 December. The third Innovation Fund auction for hydrogen production (IF25 Hydrogen Auction) under the European Hydrogen Bank and the Innovation Fund 2025 Net-Zero Technologies Call (IF25NZT Call) opened at the same time .
The Innovation Fund 2025 Hydrogen Auction Info Day and the Innovation Fund 2025 Net-Zero Technologies Info Day are also open for registration.
