Implementing Easements: Barriers and Opportunities in Europe

Conservation easements serve as a versatile, multi-sectoral instrument that has safeguarded vast expanses of land in the United States and beyond. Yet, their uptake in Europe has lagged.  

The webinar organised by ILCN and LIFE ENPLC delved into the potential of easements to boost private land conservation efforts within Europe. Experts shared insights from thorough investigations into Europe’s current easements; evaluated the effectiveness and insights gained from those established by LIFE ENPLC; and deliberated on the obstacles to widespread adoption of this approach throughout Europe.
