Description
The COVID-19 pandemic has focused attention on the urgent need for a green recovery, by highlighting the enormity of the challenge to decarbonise the economy and tackle the environmental crisis. Unprecedented EU funding will fuel this recovery, while the EU’s new 2030 emissions target – which aims to put Europe on the path to becoming climate neutral by 2050 – will mean real and rapid changes to the way we live.
The CDP Europe Awards 2021 will bring together leading business and political decision-makers for conversations on the green recovery. Speakers will debate how Europe can #BuildForwardBetter to secure a net-zero emissions, water-secure and deforestation-free financial system, economy and society.
For the first time, the event is being hosted by the European Investment Bank and produced and broadcast by Euronews. It is open to all with registration.
Executives from top European companies and winning investors of the 2020 Climetrics Fund Awards will take part. Other speakers include: Dr. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany; Ambroise Fayolle, Vice-President, European Investment Bank; Mairead McGuinness, European Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability, and Capital Markets Union; Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris; and Kostas Bakoyannis, Mayor of Athens.
CDP’s annual Europe Report on the state of European environmental progress will also be launched at the event.
