Black Sea Common Maritime Agenda Stakeholder Conference 2023 – Joining efforts for a sustainable, modern, and competitive blue economy in the Black Sea 

The Black Sea Common Maritime Agenda Stakeholder Conference 2023 sets out to be a pivotal event for all stakeholders interested in the region's sustainable blue economy development and competitiveness. The conference aims to bring together voices from various sectors, backgrounds, and experiences to address crucial challenges and opportunities in the Black Sea basin.

From the marine environment to investment, entrepreneurship, and skills, there will be 2 days of talks and activities providing a platform for knowledge sharing and collaborative efforts towards unleashing the full potential of the Black Sea sustainable blue economy.  Check the programme

CINEA's participation

CINEA will be present in the 3rd thematic session 'Boosting Innovation and Blue skills' on 22nd November at 16:45

Moreover, on 23rd November, CINEA and EMFAF Black Sea flagship projects will open the posters’ session and 3 projects : DBAN, RESPONSE and BLACK SEA SIERRA will briefly present their activities in an interactive exhibition as of 13:45.

The Common Maritime Agenda (CMA) technical group on sustainable aquaculture will also hold its kick-off meeting on 23rd november as of 09:30 until 12:30.

Black Sea Project Awards

In an exciting new development for the maritime community, the Common Maritime Agenda for the Black Sea, with support from the Black Sea Assistance Mechanism, has launched the first edition of the Black Sea Project Awards. The award ceremony will take place as of 16:15 on 23rd November.

The awards are divided into three categories, each reflecting the main CMA's goals:

  1. Healthy Marine and Coastal Ecosystems: This category focuses on environmental protection, sustainability in resource exploitation, combating marine pollution and litter, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, innovative marine research infrastructure, and environmental monitoring.
  2. A Competitive, Innovative, and Sustainable Blue Economy for the Black Sea: Here, the spotlight is on innovative business models, research and innovation, sustainable growth, job creation, transport, digital connectivity, and fostering blue skills and maritime careers.
  3. Fostering Investment in the Black Sea Blue Economy: This category emphasizes access to financial resources, promoting sustainable investment in the Blue Economy, and supporting maritime entrepreneurship and clusters.

  • 4BIZ is developing a framework for the business collaboration of EU and eligible non-EU Black Sea countries to stimulate innovation, digitalisation and investment.

 

  •  DBAN is creating a network for the acceleration of digital blue innovations. The project identifies coastal and maritime tourism, maritime transport, marine renewable energies, the prevention of marine litter and preservation of marine resources as the key areas for intervention.

 

  • RESPONSE The key objective of RESPONSE is to develop and test new training schemes and curricula for the monitoring, reporting, management and mitigation of marine pollution, with particular attention to pollution caused by armed conflicts.

 

  • BLACK SEA SIERRA will prepare and adapt decision-makers’ response capacity to current/emerging marine pollution, by coordinated cross-border response to armed conflict contamination.
