Description

In line with the Horizon Europe Cities Mission 2026-27 work programme, the European Commission has launched a new call for project proposals to support research and innovation under the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.

The total indicative budget available is EUR 85.5 million. The deadline for submissions is 8 October 2026.

The call covers three topics:

  • Energy efficient urban and sub-urban public transport, complemented by shared mobility
  • Transition to low-temperature heating solutions in multiapartment buildings, AI-based solutions for urban planning and management
  • Introducing circular economy models in the construction sector, from buildings to city scale (EU Missions Joint Call)
