Horizon Europe: EUR 70 million available for Climate-neutral and Smart Cities Mission projects

The Cities Mission aims to deliver 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030 and to ensure that these cities act as experimentation to enable all European cities to follow suit by 2050.

Description

Following the adoption of the Horizon Europe 2023-2024 work programme the European Commission has launched a new call for project proposals to support research and innovation under the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.

The total indicative budget available is EUR 70 million. The deadline for submissions is 27 April 2023.

The call covers two different topics:

  • Co-designed smart systems and services for user-centred shared zero-emissions mobility in urban areas, with an indicative budget of EUR 50 million
  • Positive clean energy district (PED) digital twins, with an indicative budget of EUR 20 million
