SHORE: EmpOweR Students as the agents of cHangE

SHORE, an EU ambitious project, is on a mission to deepen ocean and water literacy among students and teachers. The project aims to uncover the depths of knowledge within the Baltic Sea, Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Danube River, and Rhine River. As SHORE's first open call invites schools to champion of the blue movement, an exciting opportunity awaits.

Amidst unprecedent challenges and opportunities in the European Union, our oceans and waters are undergoing rapid changes and facing multiplying threats. Recognising the urgency of addressing these pressing issues and shaping our collective future under the EU Missions is of paramount importance. The SHORE project, funded by Horizon Europe, is committed to increasing ocean literacy and invites schools to embark on a journey to achieve the objectives of the EU Mission "Restore our Oceans and Waters by 2030".

To contribute to tangible solution for climate neutrality, nature preservation and the revival of ocean and water health outlined in the EU Mission Ocean, SHORE has opened a call to enhance the ocean literacy of primary and secondary students, educators, and schools. The goal is to empower youth to become agents of change and eco-citizens. Apply by 20 March 2024 to receive up to €10 000!

Crafting Blue Curricula for Diverse Waters

SHORE's mission spans over five regional areas, each with its unique marine and freshwater ecosystem. From the icy landscape of the Baltic Sea to the oxygen dance of the Black Sea, the biodiversity hotspot of the Mediterranean, the heart of Europe, Danube River, and the economically vital Rhine River – SHORE promises to engage students in tailored blue curricula, bridging the gap between oceanic wonders and classroom learning.

Granting Waves of Support

Participating schools in the SHORE project won't just navigate the seas of knowledge alone. Grants are on the horizon, providing the financial support to implement innovative blue projects. As the waves of creativity crash against the shores of education, SHORE aims to recognize excellence by crowning the "Ocean Ambassador of the Year" – a beacon of inspiration for all.

Beyond Grants: A Hub for Connection and Resources

Nonetheless, SHORE is more than just an opportunity for financial support; it serves as a comprehensive resource hub. Acting as a bridge between researchers, local stakeholders, and schools, SHORE fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange. It's a call to connect citizens, local communities, and schools, reinforcing the importance of the EU Mission and the collective responsibility to restore our oceans and waters.

As the first open call resonances across the European Network of Blue Schools, SHORE invites educators, students, and communities to join hands in the quest for ocean and water literacy. Let the waves of knowledge ripple through classrooms, fostering a generation that champions environmental stewardship. With SHORE, the journey to a sustainable, blue future begins now, and every school has the chance to be a vital part of this transformative mission.
